Acquisition Strategy

We believe that our businesses have significant opportunities to grow through disciplined, strategic acquisitions. We typically seek "bolt-on" acquisitions, in which we acquire another industry participant or adjacent product lines that enhance the strengths of our core businesses. When seeking acquisition targets, we look for opportunities to expand our existing product offerings, gain access to new customers and end markets, as well as additional distribution channels, expand our geographic footprint and/or capitalize on scale and cost efficiencies.

Our focus is on acquiring companies and product lines that enhance the strengths of our existing core business platforms in our Packaging and Aerospace segments.

Companies that fit our acquisition criteria will likely have a manufacturing or distribution focus with demonstrated market leadership in a specific product area, niche market and/or a proprietary technology. We place importance on the potential of a company to expand profitably into global markets and a proven record of consistent profitability, with potential for sustainable, above-average growth and profitability. TriMas values companies with a global orientation and a strong leadership team, with senior management interested in remaining with the company following the transaction.

Although TriMas is frequently approached with opportunities that may deviate from our core acquisition criteria, we do not acquire "turnarounds."
