The TriMas Foundation hosted our fourth annual Charity Golf Event on Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Orchard Lake Country Club. The purpose of this event is to raise money in support of local charities that provide out-reach to children that are sick, disabled, abused, or simply underprivileged. This year, like last year, the After School Learning Center of Pontiac, Michigan will be our primary beneficiary. We were able to donate $115,000 to this great cause last year. In the three previous events, through your support and our collective efforts, we have donated more than $300,000 in support of our mission. The After School Learning Center is a program that provides academic tutoring, educational enrichment and recreational programs for children of economically challenged or distressed families that are in the care of the Pontiac Lighthouse and for underserved children in the Pontiac Public School System. Classes are held three days a week at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills. This reciprocal collaboration is aimed at erasing boundaries of difference and is staffed totally by volunteers. The program gives truly remarkable children an opportunity and a pathway to succeed on the road of life.
